Advantages of cooking on induction

  • Induction is by far the most economical way to cook on electricity. The energy generated by an induction cooktop is used tremendously efficiently because it only heats your pan and not the entire cooking surface, as is the case with a ceramic cooktop. This makes an induction cooktop by far the most economical way to cook on electricity.
  • Induction works quickly. A pan of water boils twice as fast on induction as on gas.
  • The burners cool down quickly.
  • You adjust the temperature of the burners with lightning speed.
  • The hob only works when a pan is on the burner. When you remove the pan from the burner, it automatically turns itself off again.
  • An induction cooktop is super easy to clean and also keep clean.
  • Because you cook with induction without a fire, no combustion gases are released, so the air in your home is a lot cleaner.
  • An induction cooktop is a lot safer than other cooktops. This is for a number of reasons: - There is no gas involved, so no gas leak can occur. - Most models turn themselves off if there is no pan on a burner for a certain amount of time. - The burners cool down quickly.

Pans suitable for induction

An induction cooktop works with electric coils. These coils generate a magnetic field under the pan. This magnetic field creates vibrations that are converted into heat in the pan base. So the energy from an induction cooktop is not used to heat the cooktop itself, but the pan placed on it. This only works if the pan has a thick bottom.

Types of cooking pots:

Custom cooking pots: steel, enameled steel, cast iron, stainless steel with magnetic bottom, aluminum with magnetic bottom

Non-adapted cooking pots: aluminum and stainless steel without magnetic bottom, copper, brass, ceramic and porcelain

Some tips:

    • Pots already used on other heat sources should be tested for flatness of the bottom
    • Rough pots and already damaged pots can damage the glass
    • Pots should have a completely flat bottom
    • Some cooking pots buzz when placed on an induction cooking zone. This does not mean that the appliance is faulty and in no way affects performance.
